Personality

pet_personality/ has one file per character, named after the character's id: chiikawa Chiikawa, hachiware Hachiware, usagi Usagi, momonga Momonga, kurimanju Kurimanju, rakko Rakko, shisa Shisa, furuhonya Furuhonya. Take Usagi as an example:

Every field can be left out, and anything left out uses the default.

What it would rather do. intent_multipliers multiplies how keen it is on something by a factor; anything not listed is 1. routine multiplies again by time of day, with the periods MORNING, DAY, EVENING and NIGHT. Common activities are chiikawa:wander wandering, chiikawa:weed pulling weeds, chiikawa:harvest harvesting, chiikawa:plant planting, chiikawa:deliver putting the harvest into chests, chiikawa:pick_mushroom picking mushrooms, chiikawa:pick_up_item picking things up, chiikawa:melee melee fighting, chiikawa:ranged shooting, chiikawa:play_music performing, chiikawa:take_task taking slips, chiikawa:shop going shopping and chiikawa:gift_owner bringing you gifts. These factors only work within what you allow: however the personality is written, it will never make a pet do something you haven't let it do.

How whimsical its choices are. randomness goes from 0 to 1; the higher it is, the less predictable it gets.

What it likes. likes lists what it will spend its own money on, drawn by weight. If nothing is listed, it buys nothing. Besides item and weight, each entry can take a few optional fields:

FieldMeaning
requiresIt only wants to buy this once it already has this item in its backpack; for example, Hachiware only buys film once it has a camera
limitOnce it has this many in its backpack, it stops buying; for example, 1 camera is enough
keepIt buys this for its own use, and never picks it out as a present for you
save_upWorth saving up for; while it still wants this and can't afford it, it buys nothing else and saves its money

This is how Hachiware's Camera is written: { "item": "chiikawa:camera", "weight": 4, "limit": 1, "keep": true, "save_up": true }.

What it holds in the wild. wild_tools draws one item by weight; minecraft:air means it appears empty-handed.

Its knack for exams. qualifications is written per licence id: aptitude is the factor its pass chance is multiplied by, book_bonus is the extra pass chance it gets from reading the study guide, and fail_reaction is its expression when it fails, which can be happy, hurt or confused.

What it does when it has nothing to do. The four activities in idle are drawn by weight: look_at_player looks at a player, look_at_creature looks at animals and other pets nearby, stroll walks a few steps, and rest just stays put. The two looking ones also need how close something has to be to look at it (range) and how long to look (ticks); a weight of 0 means it never does that.
