Among Friends
Pets do more than work. They talk, and they spend time with each other too. This chapter covers their catchphrases, the little scenes they act out together, and the habits each of them has when there is nothing to do.
Voice Lines
When they are tamed, get hurt, set off hunting, get paid, buy something, give a gift, are revived or are wandering about, pets now and then say a line: a speech bubble pops up above their head, and their mouth moves along with it. Players within 16 blocks can see it.
Each character talks the way it does in the original series: Chiikawa hardly ever says a whole sentence, and when frightened it cries out "Nooo!!"; Hachiware often says "Does that mean...!?"; Usagi only says "Yaha", "Ura" and "Prrrrr"; Momonga opens its mouth and out comes "Praise me."; Rakko is sparing with words, "...Not bad."; and Shisa starts with "Haisai!".
They won't flood you with chatter either: after a line they stay quiet for a while, and when several nearby are already talking, a new one waits its turn.
Little Scenes
When two pets are close together and both have nothing to do, now and then they act out one of their exchanges from the original series:
| Scene | Who starts it | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Clinging | Momonga | Momonga clings to someone and says "Praise me.", and loves clinging to Chiikawa most. If nobody praises it, it lets go and fake-cries for someone to comfort it |
| Crab greeting | Furuhonya | Faces Momonga, Chiikawa or Hachiware and does a crab greeting with its hands |
| Treat | Rakko | When it has food in its backpack, it offers a share to Chiikawa or Hachiware, who eats it happily and gets a little health back |
| Coffee | Kurimanju | Hands a cup of coffee to a pet that has just finished a Weeding slip, which then works with extra zeal for a while |
| Listening | Any pet | When Hachiware is giving a street performance, pets with nothing to do come over to sit and listen, clapping now and then; Rakko and Kurimanju just sit and listen quietly |

These scenes only happen when they have nothing to do, so they never hold up the real business of working, hunting or shopping. Sitting pets don't take part, and once a pair has acted out a scene, it takes a while before they act out that one again. Wild pets act them out too.
When They Have Nothing to Do
When pets are wandering about or sitting, now and then they look at you, look at animals and other pets nearby, walk a few steps, or just stay put. Each one has its own habits:
- Momonga loves staring at you most. It looks over from far away and keeps looking for several seconds, as if waiting for you to praise it.
- Chiikawa often looks at you too, but always glances away again.
- Hachiware and Shisa turn to look when someone comes by, and Hachiware also takes a good look at animals passing by.
- Usagi can't keep still, and mostly just roams about, glancing at you now and then.
- Rakko pays more attention to what is going on around it, and seldom looks at anyone in particular.
- Kurimanju and Furuhonya mostly stay quietly where they are; when Furuhonya looks up at someone, it looks for a long time.
I hope they keep you company in the world of blocks, through some lively and gentle days.
